Gendered Violence Hub
In many post-conflict societies, gendered violence doesn’t end when the fighting stops. It shifts into law, into silence, into everyday structures. Despite decades of transitional justice efforts, survivors often remain unheard, and justice stays out of reach.
The first meeting of the Gendered Violence Hub will bring together legal minds, feminist scholars, activists, and policymakers to confront these challenges head-on. The event will look at what justice looks like when legal systems fail, when the state is part of the problem, and when gendered harm is woven into the fabric of society.
Over two days, participants will engage five key themes:
-
Gender apartheid and structural exclusion
-
Strategic litigation and justice beyond the courts
-
The legacy—and limits—of international criminal law
-
Memory, media and feminist storytelling
-
The future of the Women, Peace & Security agenda
This event marks the beginning of a deeper conversation on gendered justice in Africa and what it takes to get there.
